| Description: | Marshall 7yr old Husky mix Looking for a quiet, calm companion who will happily join you on your daily walks and then snooze the rest of the day away? Look no further than Marshall! This sweet boy is a rescued sled dog who spent years in a shelter before finally getting his freedom ride to his foster home. Marshall is currently living with a foster family that includes three adult humans, three dogs, and even a parrot. He is gentle and passive, with not a mean bone in his body. While he had canine friends at the shelter, his laid-back nature sometimes made him the target of pushier dogs. In his foster home, Marshall is comfortable sharing space with other dogs, although he hasn’t yet initiated play or much interaction. Because of this, we believe he would do well either as an only dog or in a home with another calm companion. Marshall does have some prey drive toward outdoor critters, so a home without small indoor pets would be best. Marshall is crate-trained, house-trained, and quite possibly the quietest dog his foster family has ever known. In fact, this gentle soul hasn’t made a peep - not even in response to his rowdy furry and feathered housemates. He is naturally shy and reserved and needs time to feel safe and comfortable in new surroundings. After a few nights in his foster home, Marshall graduated to sleeping in his foster parents’ bedroom, where he curls up on his orthopedic bed and sleeps soundly through the night. During the day, he is happiest relaxing on the couch. He spends a few hours at a time in his crate when his foster family needs to leave the house, but he could probably be trusted to free-roam once he settles into a new environment. Marshall loves a good walk and will happily accompany you for a neighbourhood stroll or a longer hike through the woods. He is still learning the art of loose-leash walking. True to his breed and his past, his nose and brain sometimes forget there’s a human on the other end of the leash who would like to keep their shoulders in their sockets! Because Marshall is so quiet and calm, we think he could do well in a condo or apartment building, provided he gets regular exercise through daily walks. If a backyard is part of his exercise routine, a securely fenced yard will be essential. Marshall is neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and up to date on flea, tick, and heartworm prevention. |
